ALERA ACT Annual Conference
The theme of this year’s conference is Fair Workplaces; Culture & Values.
Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 conference could not proceed as an in person conference. The committee has instead organised for the conference to proceed by way of fortnightly webinars. The schedule for the seminars is set out below.
The webinars will feature industry leading experts exploring topics like recruitment practices, compliance culture and supporting employees experiencing family and domestic violence.
Invitations to register for the sessions below will be issued to those who had registered for the Conference. These sessions will also be recorded and made available to conference registrants for you to revisit or watch at a time you are free.
At the beginning of 2021 we will also be arranging for an in person networking event to take place at Hotel Realm. This event will be free for conference registrants.

10 December 2020 at 4pm: Bethany Hender from the Womens Legal Centre (ACT & Region) will speak on ‘Family and Domestic Violence - Employer Best Practice’
14 January 2021 at 4pm: Simone Ey, Organisational Enablement Manager, Northrop Grumman will speak on ‘External Influences on Workplace Culture’:
28 January 2021 at 4pm: Deputy President Lyndall Dean of the Fair Work Commission
11 February 2021 at 4pm: Prue Bindon of Key Chambers and Kieran Pender from the Victorian Human Rights Legal Centre will speak on ‘50 Shades of Sexual Harassment;’
25 February 2021 at 4pm: Jenni Jordan from the ACT Government will speak on ‘Influencing Culture with Recruitment’
11 March 2021 at 4pm: Linda Waugh, Merit Protection Commissioner
We have sessions scheduled for 25 March 2021 and 8 April 2021 and are in the course of confirming speakers and topics for these sessions. If you have any suggestions for topics or speakers, please let us know.
